Description
Mildred ISD is seeking a passionate and engaging Elementary Music Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will inspire a love of music in students, foster creativity, and contribute to a positive campus culture that supports student growth both academically and artistically.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Provide standards-based music instruction aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS)
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that promote musical skills, creativity, and appreciation
• Teach fundamental music concepts including rhythm, melody, harmony, and performance
• Prepare students for campus and community performances
• Manage classroom behavior and create a positive, structured learning environment
• Collaborate with campus staff to support overall student success
• Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and administration
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and campus events
• Ensure vertical alignment within the MISD music department

Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
• Valid Texas teaching certificate in Music (All-Level Music)
**EC-6 Generalist Certification w/ and extensive piano background may be substituted
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
• Knowledge of elementary vocal and general music instruction
PREFERRED (in addition to the above)
• Experience directing elementary performances or programs
• Familiarity with Orff, Kodály, and other elementary music methodologies
