Dear Mildred ISD Families:
Mildred ISD is wholeheartedly committed to the success of all students. During the fall semester we offered an online learning option, “virtual learning.” The academic performance and attendance data from the fall indicate online learners are under-performing in comparison to students physically at school, making virtual learning unsustainable for long-term academic success.
Mildred ISD will discontinue virtual learning on December 16, 2020. Therefore, all students except those who have verifiable medical documentation must return to school on campus on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. In order for principals to prepare for additional students to return, we ask that parents let campus principals know by January 5th if your student will not be returning. For families choosing not to return to on-campus instruction, there are a few options available:
Apply for a transfer, or enroll in a district that offers virtual learning;
Withdraw to homeschool;
Enroll in a private/charter school;
Enroll in an online school.
We understand not everyone will agree with this decision; however, this is the best interest of students and staff at Mildred ISD. We are proud of our efforts to mitigate the spread of the virus and will continue all COVID protocol, including the option to provide remote instruction to students quarantined due to COVID.
We look forward to seeing our students back on campus on Wednesday, January 6, 2021! We are committed to keeping students safe, keeping them in school, and allowing them to participate in the activities they love. We thank you for your continued cooperation and support. Have a Merry Christmas, and Go Eagles!
Sincerely,
Shannon Baker
Superintendent
Mildred ISD
