Instructional Aide (Special Education, 26-27 School Year)

Elementary

Provide instructional and behavioral support to students receiving special education services under the direction of a certified teacher. Assist in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and help create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.

Instructional Support
• Assist the teacher in implementing IEP goals and accommodations
• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce instructional objectives
• Support students in completing assignments and classroom activities
• Help prepare instructional materials and classroom resources

Behavioral Support
• Assist in managing student behavior using approved strategies and interventions
• Support implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
• Monitor student progress and report concerns to the teacher

Classroom & Student Support
• Provide assistance with daily living skills as needed (e.g., feeding, toileting, mobility)
• Supervise students in classroom, cafeteria, playground, and other settings
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe learning environment

Collaboration
• Work closely with teachers, administrators, and related service staff
• Participate in staff meetings and training as required
• Maintain confidentiality of student information at all times

• High school diploma or GED (required)
• Associate’s degree or completion of 48 college hours (preferred)
• Valid Texas Educational Aide Certification (or ability to obtain)
• Experience working with children, preferably in a special education setting
• Ability to work with students with diverse learning, behavioral, and physical needs
